Dos Padres, Spanish for two fathers, is a straight bourbon in Doc Swinson's Exploratory Cask Series, in a 75cl bottle. It is a blend of two mash bills, 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley, and 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley. The bourbon was aged for at least five years in American white oak.
It was then finished for four to eight months, depending on the cask, in barrels that had held Extra Añejo tequila.
The brand describes melon, tangerine, oak, white pepper and soft leather. Caramel and vanilla sit alongside herbal agave on the palate, and agave syrup shows in the finish.
