El Cuerpo, Spanish for 'the body', is a straight bourbon from Doc Swinson's Exploratory Cask Series. It is one of three finished components of the brand's Alter Ego Triple Cask Bourbon, bottled on its own.
The bourbon is five years old and sourced from MGP in Indiana. It blends two mash bills, matured in new American white oak char #4 barrels, then finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry butts from Spain that had held sherry for more than twenty years.
The nose shows leather, ripe plums, dark chocolate and vanilla. The palate brings stewed fruits, honey, marzipan, custard and aged tobacco. The finish is rich and full-bodied, with vanilla, fruit leather and wet tobacco.
