Tres Amigos is a straight rye whiskey from Doc Swinson's Exploratory Cask Series, bottled at 52.9% ABV. It blends two rye mash bills: one of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, the other of 45% corn, 51% rye and 4% malted barley.
The blend first spends time in Doc Swinson's ex-rum cask solera, then receives a further finish in Anejo tequila casks, chosen by the chief blender after visiting Jalisco. Rum, tequila and rye make up the three amigos of the name.
The nose has raisins, golden plums, pineapple skins and oak. The palate brings canned pears in syrup, butterscotch, golden raisins and flaky pie crust. The finish is sweet, with rye spice and Turkish delight.
