Doc Swinson's Exploratory Cask "Summer Retreat" 7 Year Old Rye Whiskey (75cl, 52.6%)

Summer Retreat is a seven year old rye whiskey from Doc Swinson's, bottled at cask strength, 52.6% ABV, in a 75cl bottle. It blends two mash bills, one of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and one of 45% corn, 51% rye and 4% malted barley. The rye aged in American white oak, then spent three to five months finishing in French oak casks that had held Bordeaux wine and then white port. The brand's master blender chose the name for the bright, spritz-like character the white port gives the whiskey. The nose shows toasted almonds, orange marmalade and white grape. The palate has fresh floral notes and a gentle acidity against the spicy rye, with tobacco, leather and chocolate.
