Golden Hour is a straight rye whiskey from Doc Swinson's, released in spring 2024 as part of its Exploratory Cask Series. It is blended from two MGP-sourced straight rye mash bills and finished in port casks and an ex-rum cask solera, a system in which barrels are replenished over the years.
Head Spirits Master Jesse Parker built it over two months of daily blending, using 24 barrels. It is bottled at 98 proof, or 49% ABV.
The port brings dark berries, dried fruit, plum and raspberry compote. The rum solera adds banana bread, sugar cane and tropical warmth, while the rye keeps a cracked pepper spice running through it.
