This is the 2016 La Tâche Grand Cru from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in Burgundy.
In the glass it opens with wild berries, liquorice and rose petal, along with smoked duck and a touch of cedary new oak. The palate is full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a deep, concentrated core. Fine-grained, firm tannins are cloaked in succulent fruit and supported by juicy acidity.
The finish is long and resonant.
