Les Mailles Jeanne is an Anjou made from old Chenin vines, in a 150cl magnum. The plot takes its name from its former owner. The vines sit on a south-facing slope, slightly lower than the neighbouring Clos des Mailles, where cold air in spring makes frost more frequent. It is pruned last each year to secure a later budbreak. The site and the age of the vines tend to give the Chenin plenty of acidity and fairly aromatic wines. The grapes are picked by hand and gently pressed in a pneumatic press. Fermentation and ageing take place in barriques of differing ages and sizes, a stoneware jar and a glass demijohn. The wine has 12% alcohol and 0.5 g/L of residual sugar. It is farmed organically and biodynamically.
