This is a 25 year old Caol Ila from Douglas Laing's Xtra Old Particular range, bottled from a single cask. The whisky was distilled on Islay in 1996 and bottled in 2022 at a cask strength of 53.9%, without chill filtration or added colour. It comes in a wooden XOP box.
The nose is big and round, with beach, warm rock pool and harbour wall. On the palate there is sweet damp earth, barbecue, soot and ash. The finish brings candied barley sugar against peated barley, salt and trailing smoke.
