Dourthe N°1 Rouge 2015 Bordeaux

Dourthe N°1 Rouge is a red Bordeaux first produced in 1993. The grapes come from selected parcels across Bordeaux, with cultivation guidelines prioritising quality and typicity, and winemaking techniques chosen to highlight fruit and aroma. The 2015 wine blends Merlot at about 70%, Cabernet Sauvignon at about 20%, plus Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec, harvested at optimal ripeness. After complete destemming and gentle crushing, the grapes undergo a short, cool skin maceration followed by fermentation in steel tanks. The best parcels age for 12 months in new French barriques, while the rest ages in older barriques and 80 hl wood vats. It has a bright ruby colour, concentrated red and dark berry aromas, integrated wood and mild spices, a rounded palate with blackcurrant, dark cherry and plum, and a long, rounded, lightly smoky finish. Serve with lamb, beef, grilled veal, duck, gratinated vegetables or white mould cheeses.
