Driftless Glen – Rye Whiskey (75cl, 48%)

Driftless Glen Rye Whiskey is a small-batch straight rye from Baraboo, Wisconsin, bottled at 48% (96 proof) in a 750ml bottle. The mash is 75% rye and 25% malted barley, with no corn. It was aged for more than four years in new American oak, and the distillers hand-pick each batch of about twenty barrels. The malted barley is said to bring caramel and chocolate beneath the rye spice. It won a gold medal at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. On the palate there is spicy complexity with vanilla and honey, and caramel and chocolate under the rye spice. The finish leads with spice, with sweetness beneath it.
