Duke Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (75cl, 44%)

Duke Kentucky Straight Bourbon is the flagship of Duke Spirits, a brand built around the tastes of John Wayne. It is bottled at 44% in a 75cl bottle. The mash is 75% dent corn, 13% rye and 12% sixth-row barley, and the bourbon spends a minimum of five years in heavily charred new American oak. It is blended in small batches and distilled and bottled at the O.Z. Tyler Distillery in Owensboro, Kentucky. The recipe reproduces and updates handwritten blending notes from 1962, found by Wayne's youngest son, Ethan Wayne, together with his father's liquor collection. The nose has subtle charred oak and roasted nuts with vanilla, caramel and nutmeg. On the palate there is warm pepper spice and toasted nuts over caramel and vanilla, and the finish is robust, with sweetness carrying off the oak.
