Eagle Rare 17 Year Old is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, released in the fall 2024 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It is bottled at 50.5% in a 750ml bottle.
The whiskey was distilled in spring 2007 and aged for 17 years and 4 months in new charred American oak. It uses Buffalo Trace Mash Bill #1, a low-rye recipe, and the strength of 101 proof echoes the original Eagle Rare introduced in 1975.
The nose offers dark cherries, toasted oak, vanilla and a hint of leather. The palate is full-bodied, with dried fruit, honey, caramel, toasted nuts, dark chocolate and orange peel. The finish is long and warm, with baking spices and oak.
