Early Times Kentucky Whiskey is a double-distilled American whiskey, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml PET plastic bottle. The brand dates to 1860 and has been produced by the Sazerac Company since mid-2020.
The mashbill is 79% corn, 11% rye and 10% malted barley. It is aged for a minimum of three years in used oak barrels rather than the new charred oak that bourbon requires, so it is not classed as a bourbon.
The nose is gentle vanilla and soft oak, with lime, new leather and a hint of liquorice. The palate is soft, with toffee, praline, caramel, toasted marshmallow and a little pineapple. The finish is moderate, slightly resiny, with lingering caramel.
