El Tesoro Blanco is an additive-free blanco tequila made from 100% blue agave (Tequilana Weber) from the Los Altos region of Jalisco. It is distilled at NOM 1139.
The agaves are cooked in stone and brick ovens and crushed with a tahona. Fermentation is in open wooden tanks, using deep well water, and the spirit is distilled twice in copper pots. It is then aged in American white oak, in used whisky barrels, which adds notes of vanilla and spice.
The aroma is floral, with the earthiness of cooked agave. The palate is smooth and peppery, with hints of citrus and agave sweetness. It suits drinking neat or in classics such as the margarita and paloma.
