El Tesoro Mundial Collection Laphroaig Añejo Tequila (75cl, 40%)

El Tesoro Mundial Collection Laphroaig is an Añejo tequila from Los Altos in Jalisco, aged in used Laphroaig Scotch whisky barrels made of American white oak. It is bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle and is additive free. It is made from Tequilana Weber agave, cooked in stone and brick ovens and crushed with a tahona. Fermentation is open-air in wooden tanks, followed by two distillations in copper pots at NOM 1139, using deep well water from the area. The nose combines peat smoke with the earthy sweetness of cooked agave. The palate carries smoke alongside caramel, vanilla and oak, and the finish is long and warm. It can be served neat or over ice.
