Elijah Craig 12 Year Old Small Batch is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Heaven Hill distillery in the USA. It is bottled at 47% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The name recalls Elijah Craig, who in 1789 became the first distiller to age whiskey in new charred oak barrels. One story says an accidental fire charred his barrels and changed the whiskey inside. Others say he stored it in former sugar barrels and was impressed by how charring improved the flavour.
