This is Elijah Craig 18 Year Old Single Barrel, a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 75cl bottle at 45% ABV. It comes from Barrel No. 5709 and was bottled in December 2021 at the Heaven Hill distillery in Bardstown.
The bourbon matured for 18 years in a single new charred oak barrel. Elijah Craig is known for pioneering the use of new charred oak barrels, a method said to add flavour and depth.
The nose is subtly oaked with touches of vanilla. On the palate, well-balanced spice comes with a hint of sweetness, and the finish brings toasted oak with a clean, lasting warmth.
