Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a Kentucky straight bourbon made by Heaven Hill and bottled at 60.5% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is described as a small batch bourbon and comes straight from the barrel, so the strength can vary slightly from one release to the next. The name is that of Elijah Craig, the preacher who founded the brand's story in 1789 and is credited with discovering the method behind true Kentucky bourbon, after storing his goods in barrels charred by fire. The nose is rich with oak, syrup and caramel, followed by touches of apple, cinnamon and orange. On the palate, warm, dry oak gives way to sweet caramel.
