This is Elijah Craig Small Batch, a Kentucky bourbon from Heaven Hill, in a 37.5cl bottle at 47% ABV (94 proof). It matches the standard 75cl bottling in every respect except size.
The mash bill is 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley. The bourbon is aged in new, level 3 charred oak barrels, and each batch is blended from no more than 200 barrels. The 12-year age statement was dropped in 2016.
The nose brings caramel, vanilla bean and baking spices with mint and gentle oak. On the palate there is caramel, marzipan, vanilla and roasted nuts, with a hint of apricot or orange zest. The finish is long, sweet and slightly toasty, ending on oak, light honey and spice.
