Elijah Craig Straight Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey aged for four years, bottled at 47% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is the first extra-aged straight rye from the Elijah Craig brand and is made at the Heaven Hill distillery.
Its distillation follows the same approach as the brand's Small Batch Bourbon, but the mash bill is 51% rye rather than mostly corn, which is the legal minimum for straight rye. Spicy rye grain is balanced with sweet corn.
The colour is a medium chestnut. The nose offers dark chocolate with spice and a faint touch of smoke. The palate shows baking spices and sweet honey with soft oak, leading to a long, lingering finish.
