Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel is a Kentucky bourbon made by Heaven Hill and bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof). It has no age statement.
It starts as Elijah Craig Small Batch, fully matured in charred new oak barrels. It is then moved into a second new oak barrel, made with the Independent Stave Company, which is toasted to a set profile and given a flash char to bring out sweet oak character.
The nose is caramel, toasted oak and vanilla, with baking spices. The palate is brown sugar, molasses and milk chocolate, then oak spice, dark cherry and peach. The finish is long and warming, with toasted oak, chocolate and a peppery heat.
