Etter Kirsch 'Edelweiss' AOP Zug (70cl, 41%)

Etter Kirsch 'Edelweiss' is a Swiss cherry eau-de-vie from the Etter family distillery in Zug, which has been making fruit spirits since 1870. It carries the AOP Zug designation, so the cherries all come from the protected area around the town. More than 10 pounds of fresh mountain cherries go into each bottle. After distillation the spirit rests for years in glass demijohns, a house method that brings out an almond note from the cherry pits while keeping the fruit pure. The nose is fresh cherry and almond, dry and intensely fruity. The palate is pure cherry with a hint of marzipan from the pits and a smooth texture, leading to a long, warming finish with lingering cherry stone.
