Evan Williams 1783 American Hero Annual Release 2023 Small Batch Bourbon (45%)

This is the 2023 American Hero release of Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch Bourbon, made by Heaven Hill in Kentucky and bottled at 45% ABV. The barrels were chosen together with US military veterans, and each bottle carries a hang tag telling the stories of the people honoured. It is aged for roughly six to eight years and made from a mash bill of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley. A dollar from every bottle goes to charities supporting veterans. The nose brings caramel, vanilla, apple and light cinnamon. On the palate it is medium-bodied, with brown sugar, caramel, orchard fruit and gentle rye spice. The finish is smooth and warming, with lingering spice, oak and soft sweetness.
