Family Coppola Great Women Spirits Dorothy Arzner Straight Rye Whiskey 3 Year Old

Dorothy Arzner is a three-year-old grain-to-glass straight rye from Sonoma County, part of the Family Coppola Great Women Spirits collection. It honours Dorothy Arzner, the first woman to direct a sound film, who also taught a young Francis Ford Coppola at UCLA. The mash bill is 70% rye berry and rye malt blend with 30% malted barley blend of caramel and Munich malts. It was distilled twice on a hybrid still, aged in new charred oak barrels in an un-insulated warehouse, then bottled non-chill filtered and proofed with Napa Valley spring water. The nose brings dark chocolate, dried cherry, dark rye bread, leather and toasted walnut. On the palate come blackberry, roasted oak, black pepper, rye spice and brioche.
