Fary Lochan – Virgin Cask (50cl, 47.1%)

This is a single cask special edition from Fary Lochan, which calls it Virgin Cask. It is a summer release without smoke, bottled at 47.1% in a 50cl bottle, with 388 bottles drawn from the cask. The whisky matured in a single new American oak cask, number 2013-08, filled on 5 May 2013 and bottled on 7 August 2019, at 6 years and 3 months old. It is the oldest whisky the distillery had released at that point. The colour is golden brown. The nose offers vanilla, fresh-cut grass, green apples, bourbon and a faint hint of mint. The palate is complex, oily and spicy, with coffee, orange peel, freshly ground white pepper, burnt wood and green apples. The finish is long, with more cut grass and tart apples.
