Fettercairn – 12 Years (70cl)

Fettercairn 12 Years is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky in a 70cl bottle, matured for at least twelve years in American white oak casks that previously held bourbon. It has a light, fruity style. Fettercairn was the second distillery in Scotland to receive a licence, in 1824. Its stills have a ring at the base of the neck, from which mountain water runs down the outside to cool the copper and increase condensation. The shape of the bottle echoes this. The nose offers candied fruit, citrus, vanilla, coffee and a touch of green grass. The palate is soft and round, with tropical fruit, pineapple, ginger, milk chocolate and custard. The finish is of medium length, with custard, green apple, cinnamon and a little coffee and menthol.
