This is a 28 year old single malt from Fettercairn, matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels. It is deep gold in colour, bottled at natural colour and non-chill filtered.
The distillery describes its house style as tropical, and that shows in the fruit: pineapple and melon on the nose, moving to treacle, banana and warm ginger.
On the nose there is also a hint of liquorice. The palate brings citrus peel and black pepper, softened by walnuts, vanilla and spices, with coffee, apricot and a touch of sweet balsamic to close.
