Florio Terre Arse 2006 Marsala Vergine (50cl)

A Marsala Vergine DOC from Florio, made from Grillo in a 50cl bottle. The Vergine designation marks what the producer regards as the most refined type of Marsala. The wine matures for eight years in old oak casks, which give the grapes complex tertiary tones. It is a versatile style, suited to an aperitif with smoked fish or hard, aged cheeses. The colour is old gold with deep amber reflections. The nose is fine and complex, with bitter almond, burnt honey, crème brûlée, caramel and pipe tobacco. The palate is warm and aromatic with a long persistence, and an aftertaste that recalls vanilla and liquorice.
