Fonseca Vintage Port 2012 (75cl)

A Vintage Port from Fonseca, produced in the Douro region of Portugal from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. After controlled fermentation the wine ages briefly in oak casks before continuing to mature in bottle for many years. It shows a deep ruby colour with violet reflections, with aromas of ripe red fruit, plum, dark chocolate and sweet spices. On the palate it is imposing yet balanced, with velvety tannins and a persistent finish recalling cherry in spirit and liquorice. It pairs well with aged cheeses such as pecorino, dark chocolate desserts or as a meditation wine.
