Four Gate Batch 10 7 Year Split Stave by Kelvin Rye (75cl, 56.3%)

Four Gate Batch 10 is a seven-year-old Indiana straight rye whiskey, bottled at 56.25% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Only 2,439 bottles were produced. The mashbill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The whiskey was finished in Split Stave casks made by Kelvin Cooperage, who took apart medium-toasted casks and #2 char casks and rebuilt them as barrels with alternating toasted and charred staves. The nose is fresh mint, toasted marshmallow, seasoned oak and candied citrus peel. The palate offers crème brûlée sweetness, then warm oak, black pepper, baking spices and rye grain. The finish is medium, with spicy rye, marshmallow and toasted oak.
