Four Roses – Single Barrel (75cl, 50%)

This is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Four Roses, bottled from a single barrel at 50% (100 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It is made to the distillery's OBSV recipe of 60% corn, 35% rye and 5% malted barley, fermented with the V yeast strain. The whisky is matured in single-story warehouses, which keep the temperature around each barrel more even. The nose brings vanilla and brown sugar, citrus zest and a light floral note, over gentle dry oak. On the palate there is honey, ripe cherry and orange oil, then rye spice with peach and vanilla cream, and a tart, grapefruit-like edge. The finish is medium to long and lightly drying, with citrus fading into vanilla cream and a late peppery warmth.
