Foursquare Penultimus is a 15-year-old single blended rum from Barbados, the thirtieth release in the distillery's Exceptional Cask Selection series, labelled Mark XXX. It is bottled at a cask strength of 57% in a 75cl bottle, without chill-filtration, added sugar or artificial flavouring.
It comes from Foursquare Rum Distillery, where master distiller Richard Seale combines a copper double retort pot still with a continuous twin column still.
Rich molasses, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and dried tropical fruit show on the nose, with warm baking spices. The palate is full-bodied, with caramelised sugar, ripe banana, coconut, oak vanilla and pepper, and a hint of tobacco. The finish is long and warming, with dark fruit, espresso and gentle oak tannins.
