Francesco Poncini Persico Reale (1L, 28%)

Persico Reale is a peach liqueur from Francesco Poncini, bottled between 1949 and 1959 at 28% alcohol. Persico means peach in Esperanto. It is distilled from peach stones and is similar to absinthe, though much less strong. Like absinthe, it was banned for a short time at the turn of the century, because prussic acid was unintentionally formed while the stones were processed. In the 19th century it was drunk pure, or with a dash of ice-cold mineral water and lemon.
