Frank August Case Study: 06 Legacy Reserve 6 Barrel Batch (75cl, 54.6%)

Case Study: 06 Legacy Reserve is the sixth release in Frank August's experimental Case Study series, a bourbon at 54.6% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Frank August is a Lexington, Kentucky blending house without a distillery of its own. Six barrels went into the batch: two each of 8, 9 and 10-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from three undisclosed Kentucky distilleries. It is bottled non-chill filtered, and approximately 984 bottles were produced. The nose offers vanilla bean, honeycomb, caramelised pear and seasoned oak. Butterscotch, dark toffee, roasted pecan and baking spice with orange zest lead the palate, and the long finish brings toasted sugar, charred oak and dried cherry.
