Frank August Case Study 07 French Connection is a finished Kentucky bourbon, bottled at 107.4 proof (53.7% ABV) from a batch of seven barrels. It blends straight bourbon and rye whiskeys, then finishes them in Calvados, Martinique rhum and Caribbean rum casks.
The name marks the historic ties between France and America, with the Statue of Liberty as inspiration.
Apple and pear lead the nose, with vanilla, caramel and rye spice. The palate brings brown sugar, orchard fruit compote, cinnamon and molasses, and the long finish has warming spice, dried fruit and a gentle grassiness.
