Frank August Small Batch Rye is a Kentucky straight rye bottled at 50% in a 750ml bottle. Frank August is a Bardstown-based brand, and the whiskey is distilled, aged and bottled in Kentucky, matured in new charred American oak.
Each batch blends just 10 to 15 barrels, and the label carries no batch number, as the aim is consistency. It joined the permanent range on its launch in 2025, and leans towards brown sugar and caramel over the spice.
The nose offers rye spice, caramel, brown sugar, citrus and allspice, with mint, peppercorn and orange peel. The palate has brown sugar, caramel, graham cracker, raisin and leather as the rye spice builds. The finish brings baking spices, cinnamon, brown sugar, peppery oak and leather.
