Franz Haas Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC is an elegant, lively red wine that the winery calls "the white among reds". Depending on the vintage, its colour ranges from light ruby red to intense ruby red. The bouquet shows notes of sour cherry and raspberry, marzipan and plum jam, with clove, cinnamon and undergrowth. On the palate it is fresh and harmonious, with elegant tannins that enhance its roundness and pleasant persistence. The vines grow between 350 and 900 metres on varied soils with high-density planting. Fermentation takes place in open vats with frequent pump-overs and punch-downs, and the wine matures for one year in barrique before further ageing in bottle. Serve at 16-18 C. It suits light fish dishes, game roasts and red meat.
