Fundador Supremo Sherry Cask 18 Year Old is a Solera Gran Reserva Brandy de Jerez from Bodegas Fundador in Jerez de la Frontera, the bodega founded in 1730. It is distilled from white wines, mainly Airén. The brandy spends eighteen years moving through the criaderas y soleras system in American oak casks that previously held 18-year-old Oloroso sherry, which gives it a warm dried-fruit and toasted character. Intense amber with golden edges, it has a round, structured nose of dried fruits and toasted nuances. The palate is smooth and powerful, with vanilla and dried fruit, winey and rounded. The finish is elegant and persistent, led by the wood. It is best served neat at room temperature.
