Furmint Mandolas 2021 Oremus

A varietal white wine from the Tokaj Hegyalja wine region in Hungary. The Furmint grapes are pressed whole at the Oremus winery, without destemming or crushing. A larger part is fermented in new Hungarian oak barrels and a smaller part in stainless steel tanks, then the wine matures for seven months in Hungarian oak barrels, with the fine lees stirred regularly during the first two months. In the glass it is a bright pale yellow with golden reflections. The bouquet shows fresh grapefruit and lemon, floral notes of linden and chamomile, and a hint of herbs, saffron and oak. It has a full body and lively acidity, with layered aromas carrying through to an elegant, long finish. Enjoy this dry white wine with fresh fish, crisp roast pork with substantial sides, or white meats such as chicken in pastry with sauce.
