G.E. Massenez Calvados Vieux is a Normandy apple brandy aged for at least three years in old oak casks, in keeping with the Vieux designation. It is single-distilled from traditional cider apples and pears, and the oak softens the young spirit into something supple and golden.
It is medium gold in colour. The nose brings baked apple, apple-cinnamon, clove, pie crust, caramel and a hint of yellow pear. The palate is dry and elegant, with a gentle echo of apple and cinnamon, and the finish is smooth and lingering, with orchard fruit and soft oak spice.
