This is a 2015 Brunello di Montalcino from Pieve Santa Restituta, the Tuscan estate that Gaja took over fully after a partnership begun in 1994. Sugarille is one of the estate's two top Brunellos, alongside Rennina.
The 25 hectares around the old village church, dedicated to Santa Restituta, are planted only with Sangiovese. Written records of wine being grown on the property go back to 1132, when its wines were given to the bishop of Arezzo.
