Garrison Brothers Ranch Reserve PX Sherry Cask Finished is a single barrel Texas straight bourbon from Hye, selected by Master Distiller Donnis Todd. Fourteen PX barrels were held back from the blended release and bottled individually at cask strength, with proof ranging from 122 to 135.2 depending on the barrel.
The bourbon spends four years in toasted and charred new white American oak, then a further four in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Spain, eight years in all.
The nose is dark and rich, with blackberry and blueberry cobbler, cinnamon streusel and maple syrup. The palate brings blackberry, molasses, raisins, figs and toffee, and the finish is long, with blackberry tart, dark chocolate and charred oak.
