A Nebbiolo from Gattinara, made by Nervi. It shows an intense ruby robe tending to garnet with ageing. The bouquet brings faded rose and violet, red berries, delicate spices and a light touch of vanilla, with leather and tobacco emerging as it evolves. On the palate it balances Nebbiolo's firm tannins with persistent freshness, with a solid but not oppressive structure and a long, pleasantly bitter finish. It is suited to rich dishes such as braised meats, roasts, game and aged cheeses. The Jeroboam format is suited to special occasions.
