Giffard Bitter is a bitter aperitif from the house of Giffard, sold in a one litre bottle. It is made by infusing and distilling herbs, roots and spices, and aims for a balance of sweetness, acidity and bitterness. The nose has orange peel and aromatic herbs, with finer notes of ginger and clove. On the palate it is lively, with plenty of ripe citrus, moving to a persistent, bitter finish that cleans the palate. It is suited to classic cocktails such as the Negroni and the Manhattan, as well as more modern drinks.
