Gini Renobilis 2008 Recioto di Soave (37.5cl)

A sweet Recioto di Soave DOCG from the Gini estate, made entirely from Garganega in a 37.5cl bottle. The name joins 'Re', short for Recioto, with 'Nobilis', a nod to the noble rot that affects the grapes. Selected bunches are dried in the traditional way, then fermented in barriques for several months. The wine ages in wood for three years before bottling. It is made only in the more favourable vintages, when the fruit meets the estate's standards. The colour shifts between amber and old gold. The nose is intense, with figs and raisins and a touch of spice. The palate is full-bodied, rich and aromatic, with a long, lasting finish. It suits desserts and dry pastries, particularly chestnut cakes.
