Glen Albyn – 26 Year Old Rare Malts Selection (70cl, 54.8%)

This is a 26 year old Highland single malt from Glen Albyn, part of the Rare Malts Selection, in a 70cl bottle at 54.8%. It was distilled in 1977 and bottled in 2003. Glen Albyn stood in Inverness, across the river from Glen Mhor, and closed for good in 1983. Much of its output went into blends, so single malt bottlings of it are uncommon. The distillery is known for a robust style, with nutty, floral, bitter and exotic fruit character. On the palate, orchard fruit, honey and soft spices come together, with a gentle smokiness running through.
