Glen Elgin – 2013 13 Year Old Little Brown Dog Spirits (70cl, 56.2%)

This is a 13 year old Glen Elgin single malt, bottled by the Aberdeenshire independent bottler Little Brown Dog Spirits. It was distilled on 6 March 2013 and bottled on 22 July 2026 at a cask strength of 56.2%, with an outturn of 265 bottles. It matured in a refill Pineau des Charentes barrique, an unusual choice for Glen Elgin. The cask's influence is relatively delicate, leaving the distillery character at the centre while adding fruit and texture. The nose is blackcurrant sweets, white tea and apricot jam. The palate brings Madeira cake, grenadine and Cognac. The finish is candied ginger, light tamarind and fresh rocket.
