This is a Glen Grant single malt from Speyside, distilled in 1948 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in 2013 at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It spent more than six decades maturing in oak.
The nose opens with antique oak, dried fruits, beeswax and soft tobacco, with ripe figs and almonds also noted. On the palate are stewed pear, sultana, orange peel and spice, alongside damson and blackberry compote. The finish is long, with sweet malt, gentle dryness and lingering oak.
