First fill sherry butt
A Speyside Glen Grant distilled on 15 October 1959 and matured for 63 years in a single first fill sherry butt. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it on 2 November 2022 at its natural cask strength of 56.5%, without chill-filtering or added colour. This is the third edition of Mr George Legacy, which honours George Urquhart and his early commitment to bottling single malts. It comes from the last cask of the 1959 vintage that Gordon & MacPhail held, and was filled into 368 bottles. The distillate of the time was lightly peated, which adds a subtle smoke to the fruity, spicy character. Autumn spices, dried fruit and demerara sugar lead the nose, and the palate moves from stewed red fruit to bitter Seville orange. The finish is full, with cinnamon and wild berries.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
