Sherry butt
This is a single malt from the Glen Grant distillery in Rothes, distilled in 1998 and bottled by Berry Bros. & Rudd at 54.4% vol. It spent 23 years maturing in a sherry butt, which shapes both the aroma and the sweetness of the whisky. The nose combines sweet apples, orange zest and honey with a light maltiness and the sweetness of old dessert wine. On the palate there is a little oak and a very subtle smoke alongside more fruit. The finish is round and soft, yet long.
